DXnext’s Donnis Signs To Atlantic Records

DXnext alum Donnis has officially signed with Atlantic Records.

The 25-year-old Atlanta rapper spoke to XXLmag.com about the new deal, which reportedly ended up being a five-way bidding war between Atlantic, Def Jam, Jive, Asylum, and Downtown Records. “You know [Atlantic] put in the work and I feel like they the best label in the game right now…I mean they makin’ the most money and makin’ shit happen.”

Just last year, Donnis released the 10.Deep-sponsored mixtape Diary Of An ATL Brave , which solidified him as a budding up-and-coming emcee. As such, he has followed in the same footsteps as Wale (Interscope) and Kid Cudi (G.O.O.D./Universal Motown), whose partnerships with 10.Deep also yielded major label record deals.

Excited about the future, Donnis stated, “Today is a big day for me. Thanks to everyone who has helped me get to this point, especially all the blogs and websites who have assisted in getting my music and videos to the fans.”

While Donnis previously told DX the debut album would be called Basic Training, he has tentatively changed the title to Past Visions of the Future. Possible collaborators for the album include producer Drumma Boy, Kardinal Offishal, and Estelle. He has also planned a few projects before the release of his debut album, including a mixtape called Southern Comfort and an untitled EP.
